NECA IBEW

NECA/IBEW Local 48 offer an Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program.

NECA/IBEW Local 48 Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program. Our apprentices learn from the most-respected and experienced instructors in the nation’s most technologically advanced facility. The result is that we produce the most skilled and productive electricians in the nation.

Central Electrical Training Center

CETC provides apprenticeship and continuing education programs for electricians.

We offer 3 different apprenticeship programs: Inside, Limited Energy A, and Residential.

Inside Electrician

4 ½-year apprenticeship program which combines both on-the-job and related classroom training.  If accepted into the apprenticeship program, you will work for an electrical contractor for a minimum of 8,000 OJT hours.

*A general description of work performed on the job includes the following categories:

  • Wiring of residences, duplexes, and small apartment buildings.
  • Wiring of public, commercial, schools and hospital buildings; the installation and repair of all equipment therein.
  • Wiring of all industrial buildings and equipment.
  • Wiring of systems which include sound, data transmission, telephone, fire alarm, fiber optics, energy management, closed circuit television, programmable controllers and nurse call.
  • Wiring of Green energy power systems; ie. wind power, electric vehicle charging stations, and solar installation.

Limited Energy A Electrician

3-year apprenticeship program which combines both on-the-job and related classroom training.  If accepted into the apprenticeship program, you will work for an electrical contractor for a minimum of 6,000 OJT hours.

*A general description of work performed on the job includes the following categories:

  • Fiber Optic Networks
  • Telephone Systems
  • Data Networks
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • CCTV Systems
  • Nurse Call Systems
  • Security Systems

Residential Electrician

2-year apprenticeship program which combines both on-the-job and related classroom training.  If accepted into the apprenticeship program, you will work for an electrical contractor for a minimum of 4,000 OJT hours.

*A general description of work performed on the job includes the following categories:

  • Wiring of outlets in single & multiple family residences
  • Wiring services, meters and distribution
  • Wiring and servicing appliances
  • Remodeling of residential buildings
  • Installation of music, intercom systems and antennas
  • Wiring and servicing electric heat systems
  • Wiring and servicing air conditioning systems

The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee offers a complete 5-year program incorporating on-the-job training and supplemental classroom-related instruction for the Inside Electrical Wireman Program and continues to accept applications from eligible applicants in accordance with its approved standards and selection procedure.

Residential Electrical Wireman Program

The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee offers a complete 3-year program incorporating on-the-job training and supplemental classroom-related instruction for the Residential Electrical Wireman and continues to accept applications from eligible applicants in accordance with its approved standards and selection procedure.

Intelligent Transportation Systems Program

The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee offers a complete 4-year program incorporating on-the-job training and supplemental classroom-related instruction for the Intelligent Transportation Systems Program and continues to accept applications from eligible applicants in accordance with its approved standards and selection procedure.

Sound and Communication Wireman Program

The Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee offers a complete 3-year program incorporating on-the-job training and supplemental classroom-related instruction for the Sound and Communications Wireman Program leading to the Installer classification and continues to accept applications from eligible applicants in accordance with its approved standards and selection procedure.
