Electrical Training Institute
At ETI, we provide a qualified, highly skilled workforce for the unionized electrical and sound telecommunication industries in the San Diego and Imperial counties of California.
Supported through a collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 569 (IBEW Local 569) and the San Diego Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), apprenticeships are made available to qualified applicants and advanced training for all beneficiaries of the Training Trust (SDETT).
All of the ETI labs are used in our apprenticeship programs to give apprentice students hands-on training with equipment used in the field. Hands-on training is an excellent way to reinforce the theory aspect of their trade learned in the classroom.
Individuals enrolled in our journeyman training classes are also exposed to training equipment in these labs. This is an excellent opportunity for these individuals to update their knowledge and skills to remain up to date with technology in an ongoing and constantly changing, high-tech industry.
Center for Employment Training
In this electrical training program, you’ll learn residential and general electrical skills. The hands-on part of the class includes planning and installation. You’ll also inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems. Upon enrollment, you’ll be eligible to register for your Electrician in Training (ET) card. When you graduate, we will help you get your foot in the door in the industry.

Associated Builders and Contractors
The San Diego Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABCSD) and its Apprenticeship Training Trust were established in 1976. ABCSD’s modern headquarters calls the City of Poway home, including its state-of-the-art construction training facility featuring full-scale workshops and classrooms.
ABCSD serves as a resource for members and trains hundreds of skilled craftspeople in safety, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, electronic systems technicians, and sheet metal trades every year.
UEI College
The Electrician Training Program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training that they need to begin a rewarding career as an electrician. The program teaches students how to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential and commercial applications.
The great thing about the program is that it can be completed, and students can earn their diploma in as few as 10 months, placing them on the fast track to becoming entry-level electrician technicians.
Students are taught electrical wiring by working on skill-building stations in on-site labs at UEI College. Upon graduation from the program, students should be able to install wiring in new buildings and maintain and repair existing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
The program is hybrid, meaning it combines both online learning and in-classroom and lab training, making it easier than ever before for students to graduate from the program.
So, if you’re interested in becoming an electrician technician, consider enrolling in UEI’s Electrician Technician program; the program can be completed and a diploma earned in less than a year, providing you with the skills and hands-on training that you need to become an entry-level electrician technician.
Western Electrical Contractors Association
WECA offers federal and state-approved Commercial, Residential, and Low Voltage (Voice Data Video and Fire Life Safety) Electrical Apprenticeship programs, a state-approved Electrician Trainee program, certification exam preparation classes, and state-approved continuing education classes for journeyperson electricians and low voltage technicians.

JASA Trade School
The Pre – Apprenticeship program is a multi-disciplinary program that aims to give students the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to proceed with Apprenticeships in the Electrician trade.
A strong emphasis on safety, including the Osha 10 certifications, will prepare the students to train with a variety of tools, techniques, and materials in well-equipped shops as they complete the curriculum. The program’s three terms of academic and technical training ensure that students are able to apply theoretical knowledge to practical applications.
Pre-Apprenticeship programs develop the required competencies to meet industry standards for Apprentice Electricians.
